THE SUPER DIMENSIONAL FORTRESS

Macross, the origin for the Robotech saga, is one of the most successful Anime of all time. Since its conception in 1982, Macross has, in over 20 years, achieved a portfolio with 7 animation productions which included "Do you remember love?" and most recently, a 5 part prequel. The reach that Macross has on its audience spans from sci-fi to mecha to aviation enthusiasts and beyond. The very fact that you are reading this right now puts you in one of those categories, if not simply put, a Macross enthusiast. There is no doubt that Macross captures a great following and has withstood the test of time as a classic. There is no denying it has by far some of the most loyal fans since day 1, and still readily appeals to new groups of fans with each passing year. Its mecha, the VF-1 Valkyrie is placed firmly among one of the most famous of Super Robots termed by the Japanese Anime community.

As full fledged fanatics of Macross, we at PopBox are extremely excited to be the production partner and Asian distributor for licensee, Toynami, on a new series of 1:6 scale (around 12 inches) real cloth action figures. Our starting line-up includes Hikaru Ichijo (Rick Hunter), Roy Focker, Maximillian Jenius (Max Sterling) and Kakizaki (Ben Dixon) limited edition blue utility uniform and pilot gear suit from the movie, "Do You Remember Love?".

They will be off the charts! From collectors for collectors, no details will be overlooked nor production efforts spared in getting the perfect rendition of our favorite VF-1 pilots (utilizing Haruhiko Mikimoto's character line-art)! Some of the faithfully reproduced features will include the skull emblem patch and miniature zipper in the blue utility uniform as well as the accurate productions of the pilot suit, harness & helmet. All this without the high Japanese price tag. R.A.H., Watch out; here comes our Hyper-Realistic Series figures!

"Do you Remember Love?"

Macross is the quintessential animation of a story that revolves around futuristic fighter pilots and their mechas. It has the perfect blend of good versus bad, camaraderie and romance. The 1984 movie production,"Do you remember love"was the crescendo of the original 36 episode TV series.

Caught in a devastating war between 2 alien forms, the gender-oriented Zentrans & Meltrans, earth was annilalated. Only through the Super Dimensional Fortress, SDF-1, a reconstruction from the remains of an alien vessel, was humankind saved. Squadrons of the VF-1 Valkyries, transformable mechas (jets to robots), became the backbone of the new humankind defense force, U.N. Spacy. Among them was an elite skull squadron where our protagonist, Lieutenant Hikaru Ichijo is a member. Commanded by squadron leader Major Roy Focker, Hikaru and lieutenant Max Jenius and Kakizaki fought many fierce battles against the numerically superior enemies. Heavy casualties were sustained on all sides before an ancient love song sung by Lynn Minmay induced peace.

The driving force behind Macross is the legendary VF-1 Valkyrie fighter conceived by Shoji Kawamori. A variable fighter with 3 modes: jet fighter, hybrid Gerwalk and robot Battroid. The VF-1 draws certain resemblance to the modern day F-14 Tomcat both in its sweep-wing design, twin engines and the famous "Jolly Rogers" skull and cross bones insignia. Unlike other mechanical designs of transformable mechas, the VF-1 is a radical yet believable concept and is credited to Kawamori's aeronautical background. This realism is one of the main reasons why Macross has captivated so many, especially those with a passion for aviation.

While the Valkyries were arguably the key to the extreme popularity of Macross, Haruhiko Mikimoto's remarkable talent in character design made certain the fans loved the characters as well. He provided the creation of strong and unique individuals in the cast of Macross, which solidified its position as being one of the most successful productions of all time. A strong cast, a fantastic storyline as well as mesmeric mecha designs coupled with a love song transcends the greatest animated saga of a generation into Anime immortality.
